Ok sorry for the long delay in posts but you know sometimes life happens. So in case my title confused anyone out there today was the day that finally the UFO's would appear all over the world centering around major cities. Let me pause for a moment while you check Google News or CNN to see that this happened. Oh whats that you say, it didn't happen? I know what you're thinking big surprise that it didn't happen, but believe it or not some people actually fall for these predictions every time they are made. Story continues after the break.
Maybe I should back up and explain you see retired Air Force and NORAD officer Stanley A Fulham has written a new book where in he (and this is emphasized so many times throughout his website) tentatively predicts today Oct 13, 2010 as the tentative date that the Aliens tentatively appear worldwide to help us I dunno disarm our nukes or something I suppose. Now in case you thought I was being facetious about using the word tentative please check out the website, its ridiculous how often that world is used all over it. According to his book, and the press releases that can be found here and here, the aliens will neither land nor communicate on that date; they are aware from eons of experience with other planets in similar conditions their sudden intervention would cause fear and panic.
Ok so how we doing so far? Lets see retire military official, check. 'Tentative' prediction about their appearance? Check. But wait were is this information coming from is it a reliable/verifiable source? Lets see what the book says. For more than a decade, through the services of a world renowned channeler, the author has communicated with an ethereal group of entities known as the Transcendors -- 43,000 very old souls who combine their vast experience and knowledge through eons of incarnations, providing advice and information to humans in search of basic realities of mankind’s existence. Oh it comes from a channeler huh?
Now allow me an aside for just a moment, I fully believe in the reality of channeled information in so much as these people are in contact with a non-human intelligence that is conveying the message to them.Or in other words I don't necessarily think that the person is making all of the information up. This doesn't mean though that these non-human intelligences, whatever they may be, are telling the truth. Having just finished John Keel's excellent The Mothman Prophecies and beginning to read his so far equally awesome Operation Trojan Horse it appears that although sometimes these NHI (Non-Human Intelligences) have told the truth, more often then not they appear to be intentionally misleading people. Basically the NHI may have told the channelers predictions that may have come true many times previously but of course today's prediction didn't come true.
Of course most people will right off the channelers as crazy or hoaxers I don't think that is necessarily the case. Either way though the prediction didn't come true this time, nor did it the last few times. I think the lesson that we can take from here is that the next time someone cries wolf, or UFO, we don't have to all jump on the band wagon believing it will happen ( I'm looking at you /x/). Although you never know next time could be it.
Update to add evidently something is going on in NYC according to Twitter. I will try to follow up later with more.
